With Ellen Rose, Head of the Jane Austen Society, Europe.

To the continuing exasperation of all who know and love her, Jane Austen's well-meaning matriarchal figure of matrimonial concern and anxiety welcomes you to hear of her continued role as a loving wife and mother. Armed with her smelling salts she will reliably inform you of her domestic and emotional situation.

The organisers have requested that Mr Bennet attends and those with a sensitive disposition be forewarned of possible sentiments of amusement and pity.

About the speaker

Ellen Rose, a native Lincolnshire lass, looks forward to her contribution to the festival.

Ellen founded the Horncastle Regency Festival and Dancers and enjoys re-enacting history. Her degree is in music teaching and performing arts but she also finds time to write and perform historical music, host historic costumed house parties, paint water colours, design interiors and provide her own handmade historical costumes to fellow enthusiasts and institutions all over the world.
