Winners Celebrate Georgian Festival Competitions

The winners have been announced of two competitions run as part of this year’s Stamford Georgian Festival.

Country Traditionals of Maiden Lane, which sells stunning Polish pottery, received the most votes for its window display as part of the ‘Grand Tour of Stamford’ quiz whilst the individual tour quiz winner was Neil Taylor- Matson of Kirton in Lindsey. Neil’s was the first all correct entry draw at random and he receives £50 courtesy of the Federation of Small Businesses which sponsored the quiz.

Owner of Country Traditionals, Nicola Tame, said; “We're delighted to win the 'Grand Tour of Stamford' window competition. I love window dressing anyway and so this was a perfect excuse to add a little something extra. The prize money from the FSB will go in the pot towards our staff Christmas drinks so thanks to everyone who took part and voted for us and thanks to the FSB for sponsoring!"

The shop, which is one of three owned by Nicola, was presented with a cheque for £50 by Doug Balderson, the FSB’s South Kesteven Branch Chairman and Andrew Masters, FSB Membership Advisor for the area.

Also receiving his prize of a classic Lego set was nine year old Oscar Rawlinson from Stamford. Oscar’s Georgian Lego house was judged to be the best entry in the under 12’s festival competition run at the library with Lego loaned from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA)

Oscar, who is a pupil at Bluecoat school, will be adding the set to his already extensive Lego collection. He was presented with his prize by Cllr. Bob Sampson, himself a retired architect and Chairman of South Kesteven District Council which organised the Georgian Festival and Tom Runcorn from local RIBA chartered architect practice PW Architects.
